Colin Parker B. Bus., FCA, FCPA and MAICD is the founder and Principal of GAAP Consulting, and acknowledged expert in financial reporting and auditing. He is a member of the AASB; and his representation activities have included: Chairman of ICAA Audit Advisory Committee; independent Audit Committee member of the City of Darebin; member of the Urgent Issues Group; member of the Consultative Group to the AASB; and adviser to several the Task Forces of the Accounting Bodies.
Colin has held several senior positions: Head of Accounting and Auditing Policy – Stockford Ltd; Director – Accounting and Audit with CPA Australia; Senior Technical Manager – Ernst & Young; Corporate Development Director – Centre for Professional Development; Technical Director – RSM Bird Cameron; Senior Manager Audit Standards – AARF; and Group Audit Manager – PKF.
Colin has written over 200 published articles, co-author of ‘Australian GAAP’ (9 editions), author of Australian GAAS 2007 Checklists, ‘e-GAAP Update’ subscription service and GAAP Alert bi-monthly newsletter. He is a popular speaker and trainer on financial reporting and auditing issues having made over 200 presentations; and Press, Internet and video commentator on contemporary financial reporting, auditing and corporate governance issues. He also made 100s of internal presentations for accounting firms.
Jim Dixon MBA, B. Comm., B.Ed, FCPA, is an Associate, GAAP Consulting. Jim has extensive experience in advising on financial reporting gained from working with entities and agencies across both the private and public sectors. Jim’s most significant recent challenge has been to address accounting and auditing issues arising from the implementation of AIFRS across the Victorian Public Sector. An important part of this work has been to advise and train staff within the Office of the Victorian Auditor General (VAGO) on the many aspects and issues arising from the implementation of AIFRS.
Prior to VAGO, Jim provided advice and training across a wide range of private sector businesses while holding the positions of Technical Director of CPA Australia, Technical Director Pitcher Partners, and as Senior Manager Research for the National Australia Bank. Jim is a frequent speaker on contemporary financial reporting issues and has conducted numerous in-house training sessions for VAGO and Pitcher Partners.
Recent representation activities include: member of the AASB’s Advisory Committee on Accounting for Service Concessions by Grantors; representative of Australasian Auditors General to the AASB; member of Financial Reporting and Auditing Committee of the Australasian Auditors General; and member of the UIG.
