Carmen Ridley BSc (Hons), CA, ACA is the Team Leader Corporate Reporting of GAAP Consulting Network and specialises in financial reporting advice, accounting standards interpretations, technical training and financial statement reviews.

Carmen has an excellent knowledge of financial reporting through significant experience with a number of major accounting firms in both the external audit and technical divisions and spending significant time analysing and interpreting accounting standards for clients.

Carmen has over 10 years field audit experience, including as a Audit Manager, with second tier and Big 4 accounting firms. Her audit clients included private and public sector clients, for-profits and not-for-profits and listed entities.

Carmen has:

• Authored ‘Reduced Disclosure Regime – A Practical Guide to Implementation’, and
• Co-authored the CCH publication ‘Master Financial Statements’.

Carmen is a frequent speaker on contemporary financial issues for CPA Australia.

Carmen became part of the GAAP Consulting Network in June 2010 to assist in the provision of financial reporting services to clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

BSc (Hons) in Mathematics – Durham University

• Associate – The Institute of Chartered Accountant in Australia
• Member – The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

EXPERIENCE

Over 16 years experience in financial reporting and auditing in the following areas:

• Interpretation and advice on generally accepted accounting and auditing principles, and ethical and risk management standards
• Developed, implemented and advocated accounting and auditing methodologies
• Quality reviews of financial statements, and
• Training on accounting and auditing standards as well as other relevant pronouncements.

Carmen founded Australian Financial Reporting Solutions (“AFRS”) in February 2010. AFRS is an independent consulting firm which specialises in financial reporting and auditing support, advice and training.

Associate Director, National Audit Support – Grant Thornton

Carmen was an Associate Director in the National Audit Support team at Grant Thornton where she had responsibility for financial reporting queries, financial statement hot reviews and technical training to both staff and clients.

Associate Technical Director – William Buck

Carmen was an Associate Director at William Buck where she had responsibility for financial reporting and auditing on a National basis. Carmen developed and implemented the audit methodology in accordance with the force of law auditing standards.

Senior Technical Manager – WalterTurnbull

Carmen joined WalterTurnbull’s Melbourne office as a Senior Manager with responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of a national technical division and managing a client portfolio.
